I’d like to share a link with you to an online magazine called Psychology Today. I think it’s always wise to “get curious” about information communicated via any means – even scholarly journal articles. I often read articles from the following website to give me food for thought, keep in “the loop”, or just because I find it interesting. In the social world, there are many avenues for sending messages and information. I think it’s important to ingest the information and do some fact checking before the message becomes a fact or truth for you. There is always a motive or purpose to communicating information. It can be bias, prejudice or intended to make a certain impression on the audience, viewer, or receiver. Webb Therapy is a casual, talking therapeutic process that employs a number of modalities to support people who are experiencing anything, and want to talk about it.
Webb Therapy comes to you. There are no offices. All sessions are conducted either in your home or another safe space where you feel comfortable. I believe an unconditional, non-judgemental, empathetic relationship between counsellor and client is the foundation for effective therapy.
I don’t believe psychological disorders simply “disappear” after treatment. I believe we get better at managing the symptoms, as we move towards disillusion, acceptance, and personal authenticity. I don’t use the word ‘struggle’ when referring to psychological distress or dysfunction. I prefer the word ‘experience’ or ‘live with’ e.g., I live with depression, rather than I struggle with depression. It’s important to recognise our unhelpful patterns of thinking and speaking as to begin generating new neural pathways.
For over a decade I have continued to develop a comprehensive understanding of the human condition. I have continued to see psychologists, psychiatrists and other specialists to learn how to live with a mental health “dis-order”.

Reality Therapy – a therapeutic approach that focuses on problem-solving and making better choices in order to achieve specific goals. Developed by Dr. William Glasser, reality therapy is focused on the here and now rather than the past.
Existentialism – therapy focuses on free will, self-determination, and the search for meaning, often centering on you rather than on the symptom. The approach emphasizes your capacity to make rational choices and to develop to your maximum potential.
Social Integration / Social Skills – A sense of belonging is an essential human need, along with food and shelter. Connection to others is what gives life meaning and is effective for coping with intensely painful emotions. Social connectivity to a greater community promotes our motivation, health, and happiness. Interpersonal Effectiveness skills are necessary for maintaining healthy relationships and includes attending to important relationships, balancing priorities over demands, setting boundaries, respecting others and the self, and getting our needs and wants met.
Psychoanalytic Theories – the goal of psychoanalytic therapy is to help patients better understand the unconscious forces that can play a role in current behaviors, thoughts, and emotions.
Behaviourism – Behaviorism emphasizes the role of environmental factors in influencing behavior, to the near exclusion of innate or inherited factors. This amounts essentially to a focus on learning. We learn new behavior through classical or operant conditioning (collectively known as ‘learning theory’).
Fitness & Nutrition – A healthy balanced diet and regular exercise is essential for maintaining physical and mental health, and well-being. Having a ritualised fitness regime, and understanding the importance of health beneficial foods in our diet, can help prevent many physical diseases and promote sleep, cognitive functioning and mood.
Recovery Principles – supports a person’s potential for recovery from a mental health disorder, especially addiction. Recovery is a very personal, unique process of changing one’s attitudes, values, feelings, goals, skills and/or roles.
